Puri(By AbhishekMohanty): Bahuda Yatra, the return journey of Lord Jagannath and his holy siblings after their nine-day stay at their aunt's house, was celebrated with religious fervour in Puri on Saturday.
Lakhs of devotees took part in the festivities.
Pulling of chariots started at 2:45 PM amid chants of 'Jai Jagannath' by lakhs of devotees.
The air at Saradhabali was echoed with holy chants and rhythmic sounds of gongs, cymbals and conches as chariot pulling began one hour ahead of schedule following the customary 'Chhera Pahanra' ritual performed atop the chariots by Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb near Gundicha Temple.
A total of 205 police force were deployed for smooth conduct of Bahuda Yatra.
