Three-Day Oriental Conference Inaugurated at Fakir Mohan University
•Over 40 Scholars to Present Research Papers

Balasore, 27/05 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The fifth edition of the Eastern Indian Oriental Conference was inaugurated at Fakir Mohan University. Organized collaboratively by the university’s Department of Sanskrit, the Central Sanskrit University (New Delhi), and the Eastern Indian Oriental Conference, this three-day academic gathering aims to celebrate and explore the depth of oriental scholarship.
The inaugural session on the 26th was held under the chairmanship of the university's Vice Chancellor, Professor Santosh Kumar Tripathy. Presiding over the conference, Professor Prafulla Kumar Mishra emphasized the need to prioritize Sanskrit education across academic institutions. Keynote speaker Professor Harekrishna Satapathy reflected on the global significance of Odishan traditions and highlighted the region’s contribution as the birthplace of many great thinkers.
Vice Chancellor Professor Tripathy expressed optimism regarding the far-reaching aspirations for Sanskrit and shared his vision for Fakir Mohan University’s role in this pursuit.
Professor Bhaskar Behera, Chairperson of the Postgraduate Council, delivered the welcome address, while Professor Arun Ranjan Mishra introduced the guests. The program was coordinated by Professor Debasish Patra, Convener of the Sanskrit Department, and the vote of thanks was offered by Professor Harekrishna Mishra, the Editor of the conference.
The thematic sessions of the conference featured distinguished scholars such as Professor Brajakishore Swain, Professor Prafulla Kumar Mishra, Professor Harekrishna Satapathy, Professor Arun Ranjan Mishra, Professor Kshitishwar Dash, Professor Karunakar Das, and Dr. Kumarchandra Mishra. Discussions centered around the literary contributions of Sridharswami and Baladeva Vidyabhushan.
Upcoming sessions will focus on topics such as the Paippalada Samhita of the Atharva Veda, the philosophical legacy of Vyasa-poet Fakir Mohan Senapati, and the broader canvas of Indian intellectual traditions.
More than 40 researchers are set to present papers during the conference, which has drawn participation from scholars and literary experts from various regions of India. Faculty members Dr. Debashis Mishra and Dr. Preetiranjan Majhi will moderate the sessions, with over a hundred research scholars actively engaging in this significant academic event.
