XENESIS-24 OF XIM UNIVERSITY CELEBRATES EMERGING WRITERS, POETS
Bhubaneswar(27/01/2024): The Department of English of XIM University hosted its annual creative writing competition, culminating in the grand event, Xenesis-2024, where the winners were awarded for their outstanding literary contributions.
The programme, which has become a staple in the academic calendar of the university, aims to nurture and encourage budding writers, fostering a passion for literature and creative expression.
Xenesis-2024 was a testament to the vibrant literary community at XIM University, with participants showcasing their talent and creativity in various forms of written expression.The competition, open to students across disciplines, saw a diverse array of submissions, including poetry, short stories, and essays, reflecting the rich literary landscape amongst the budding poets and writers across schools including ODM Public School and DAV, Unit-8 and ODM Global School Bhubaneswar.
The event kicked off with an opening ceremony that featured distinguished guests from the literary circle, faculty members, and the enthusiastic participants.
Dr.Sachidananda Panda, Associate Professor, Department of English, and the chief coordinator of programme, in his welcome address expressed his delight at the overwhelming response to the competition and commended the participants for their creativity and passion for writing. The heart of Xenesis-2024 was the awards ceremony, where winners were recognized for their exceptional contributions.
The categories included Certificate of Excellence, Certificate of Achievement, and Certificate of Appreciation.
All the participants were given Certificate of Participation, by the Registrar of the university Fr.S Antony Raj Sj.
With each winner receiving a trophy, a certificate, and the opportunity to have their work featured in the literary magazine of the university.
One of the highlights of the programme was a keynote address by Fr.S.Antony Raj Sj.,Registrar XIM University who shared his insights on the significance of fostering young literary talent.
He emphasized the importance of programs like Xenesis-2024 in shaping the future of Indian literature and encouraged the winners to continue honing their skills.
The visiting teachers were honoured by the Dean Dr.P.V.Padma School of Liberal Arts, XIM University. The winners expressed their gratitude and excitement at being acknowledged for their work. Bidisha Baidisobha from DAV Unit-8 Bhubaneswar won the first prize and a cash award of Rs 5000, trophy and certificate.
Subham Ranjan Patra from ODM Public school won the second Prize and a cash award of Rs 3500 and Samriddhi Chakra from ODM Global won the third prize trophy, a and certificates.
The winners shared that "Xenesis-2024 has not only given us a platform to showcase our writing but has also inspired us to pursue a career in literature.
I am grateful for the encouragement and recognition." The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof.Natasha Anand Assistant Professor in English followed by various literary activities by English department students of the university showcasing their artistic talents, including poetry recitations, musical performances, and dramatic readings.
Xenesis-2024 not only celebrated the achievements of the winners but also highlighted the commitment of the Department of English to nurturing a community of passionate writers and poets.
