Rivers are flowing below danger level in Odisha: Chief Engineer at Water Resources Department
Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): Odisha Water Resources Department Chandra Sekhar Padhi said, "There is no flood situation in the state. Everywhere, the rivers are flowing below the danger level, so there is absolutely no issue."
Padhi informed that the Mahanadi is flowing 4 meters below the danger level; the Brahmani is 3.75 meters below; the Baitarani is 1.16 meters below; the Budhabalanga is 6.13 meters below sea level; and the Subarnarekha is flowing 2.6 meters below the danger mark.
He added, the Hirakud Dam gates will be opened on July 6. Keeping this in view, the Collectors of 13 low lying districts have been alerted to avoid flooding.
The state has recorded 305.8 mm of rainfall so far, which is 29% above the normal level.
