5th Foundation Day of Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust celebrated
Bhubaneswar(21/12/2024): Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust celebrated its 5th Foundation Day in the Seminar Hall of KIIT University in Bhubaneswar.
Padmashree Prof.Dr.Subrat Kumar Acharya was the Chief Guest and Dr.Bijay Kumar Mohapatra, Director of Health Services, Government of Odisha was the Guest of Honour.
Both were welcomed by the Chairperson of Amrit Dhara, Dr.Mami Parija.
Secretary of the Trust, Namrata Rath presented the Annual Report highlighting the expansion of the Trust’s activities during the past year such as opening of a second centre in Kalinga Nagar and starting a community based service centre in the Sundargarh district. Padmashree Prof.Acharya in his talk spoke eloquently about sharing compassion and bond in the patient care journey, drawing upon his vast experience.
Dr.Mohapatra spoke about the policy directives of the Government of Odisha in the area of palliative care and how the government, is keen to ensure palliative care services to the needy in all the districts.
Dr.Bidhu Kalyan Mohanti, Director-Academic at Bagchi Sri Shankara Cancer Centre and Research Institute, Bhubaneswar, who is also an Advisor to Amrit Dhara, spoke about the lessons that have been learnt. On this occasion, Amrit Sahay was launched and the collaborative efforts by Amrit Dhara were highlighted tracing the immense progress made during the last 5 years in providing care to terminally ill cancer patients and in providing palliative care training to doctors, nurses, volunteers and care givers.
An annual report was also published and circulated on this occasion. Finally a vote of thanks was offered by Prof.Dr.Sumita Mohanty, who is a Trustee of Amrit Dhara .
