Air India plane crash claims 133 lives; Odisha CM, LoP offer heartfelt condolences

Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Leader of Opposition (LoP) offered their heartfelt condolences over the death of 133 people in a plane crash at Ahmedabad in Gujarat on Thursday.

The Chief Minister said, "I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident involving the Air India Ahmedabad–London flight. My thoughts and prayers are with all the passengers, crew members, and their families during this difficult time. I earnestly pray to Lord Shri Jagannath for the safety and swift recovery of everyone affected." 
Odisha stands united in solidarity with the people of Gujarat and all those impacted by this unfortunate event, the CM added.
Former Chief Minister of Odisha and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik said, “Deeply anguished to learn about the disastrous crash of Ahmedabad- London Air India flight with hundreds of people onboard. My thoughts and prayers are with the families deeply affected in the tragic planecrash.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took stock of the of the incident and shared his deep condolences.

The Air India plane with 242 passengers onboard crashed near Ahmedabad Airport.

The plane was carrying 169 Indians, 53 British nationals, 7 Portuguese and one Canadian passenger. 
The flight which was bound for London crashed shortly after takeoff near Ahmedabad Airport.

Emergency services, including the fire brigade, rushed to the location for carrying out rescue operation.

The plane crashed on the BJ Medical College UG hostel mess in Meghani Nagar.


Soon after the crash of Air India flight AI-171, authorities have issued emergency contact numbers for assistance. Ahmedabad Police has issued a dedicated helpline at 079-25620359 for urgent queries and support related to the mishap.
Air India has set up a helpline at 18005691444 to assist families and provide real-time updates.
