CLASH AT JHARPADA JAIL: PERMISSION SOUGHT TO SHIFT 20 INMATES TO OTHER JAIL

Bhubaneswar (21/03/2024): DG (Prisons) AM Prasad on Thursday informed that permission has been sought from the court to shift 20 inmates of Jharpada Jail in Bhubaneswar to some other jail. It has been decides to shift some inmates including Chakara and Sambhu who were involved in a clash that broke out inside the jail recently over drug dealing. He said, "Negligence on the part of the authorities of Jharpada Jail has been found and inquiry report has already been sent to the Home department." Following the clash, a special team of the Commissionerate Police had on Wednesday raided the jail and recovered ganja, khaini, tobacco packets and matchboxes.
