Bhubaneswar (09/01/2025): The prevailing cold wave in Odisha is likely to subside soon. There is possibility of rise in temperature by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next three days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that cold winds blowing in from the north and north-western Odisha had caused the mercury to plummet several degrees since the start of the new year, and eight cities recorded temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. According to the IMD, both coastal and interior parts of Odisha will witness the rise in temperature in the next few days. Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar centre of the MeT stated that dry weather will prevail over most parts of the state despite a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam and adjoining states in lower tropospheric levels. Dense fog is likely to occur in various parts of the state over the next three days.
Moderate fog alert has been issued for districts like Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, and Jharsuguda for today and tomorrow. Similarly, for tomorrow and January 11, moderate fog alerts have been issued for districts such as Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Angul, and Dhenkanal by the Meteorological Department.
