Deep depression takes shape; heavy rainfall & wind expected in Odisha

Bhubaneswar (09/09/2024): The deep depression over Bay of Bengal is likely to cross the Puri coast by afternoon.

In the last 6 hours, it has moved 7 km.

Wind speed of 55 to 65 km per hour gusting to 75 kmph is expected in coastal districts along with heavy rainfall. The intensity of rainfall is expected to decrease gradually from September 11. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in Koraput and Malkangiri districts in next 24 hours. Heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours led to severe waterlogging at several places in Malkangiri district.

Communication between Malkangiri and Koraput has been affected.

Many houses also got damaged at some places in Malkangiri district .
