District Swadeshi Fair and National-Level Pallishree Fair ‘Koshambe 2025’ Inaugurated at Balasore
Balasore, Dec 23 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The district-level Swadeshi Fair and the national-level Pallishree Fair, Koshambe 2025, was formally inaugurated yesterday at the Balasore Police Ground with much fanfare.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Balasore MLA Manas Kumar Dutta, Basta MLA Subasini Jena, Nilagiri MLA Santosh Kumar Khatua, Bhograi MLA Gautam Buddha Das, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Narayan Pradhan, and Balasore Municipal Chairperson Savita Pradhan as distinguished guests. The Balasore District Collector presided over the function.
On the occasion, the Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad, the Additional District Collectors (General and Revenue), the Sub-Collector of Balasore, and the Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad were also present and shared their views on the significance and special features of the Koshambe Fair.
The guests highlighted Balasore district’s historical, cultural, and industrial achievements, while stressing the importance of promoting small and micro enterprises for sustainable economic growth.
A total of 400 stalls have been set up at the fair, including 50 stalls from the Agriculture Department. The display of handicrafts, handloom products, and a wide variety of food items has added to the attraction of the fair.
This year, the introduction of an innovative book exhibition along with a ‘Book Café’ has given the fair a new dimension. Senior writers and book lovers from Balasore were seen showing keen interest in this initiative. A photo exhibition titled “Balasore: Past, Present and Future” has emerged as a major attraction, while the Koshambe food stalls witnessed heavy footfall.
Cultural programmes have also been organised as part of the fair, offering entertainment along with cultural awareness to visitors. With a large turnout from the very first day, the organisers informed that the fair will continue till December 28, allowing the people of Balasore to enjoy the festivities in full measure.
