Annual Function Celebrated at Balasore Higher Secondary School

Balasore, 23/12 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The annual function of Balasore Higher Secondary School, Sobharampur, was celebrated with enthusiasm and active participation of students, teachers, and invited guests.

The programme was presided over by Principal Annada Prasad Jena. Balasore District MLA Shri Manas Kumar Dutta attended as the chief guest and urged students to aim for excellence not only in academics but also in sports, cultural activities, and social life. He said true education goes beyond classrooms and helps shape responsible citizens.
Shri Chandrabindu Das, Personal Assistant to the Member of Parliament from Balasore, attended as guest of honour and spoke on the cultural richness of India and Odisha. Other guests included Shri Sitakanta Swain, Representative of the Member of Parliament and social worker from Sobharampur; Shri Chittaranjan Panda, Representative of the Member of Parliament and social worker from Balasore; Shri Gangadhar Raut, Office Assistant to the MP; and retired Flying Officer Ashok Kumar Dash, who also addressed the gathering.

The programme began with lecturer Ratnakar Mohapatra introducing the guests. Principal Annada Prasad Jena then presented the annual report. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Santosh Kumar Raut, Assistant Professor of Political Science, Fakirmohan College, Balasore. He advised students never to feel discouraged, to believe in themselves, and to follow the guidance of their teachers for success. He also highlighted the importance of satsang along with education.
Students who excelled in sports, quizzes, logic, singing, dancing, and solo performances were felicitated. The toppers of the 2025 Council Examination in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams Abhipsa Banerjee, Jayaprakash Patra, and Mangal Murmu, received the ‘Anant Subarna Educational Award’ along with a cash prize of ₹1,000 each, presented by retired Flying Officer Ashok Kumar Dash. Samar Kumar Sahu was honoured as the Best Student of the Year.
English teacher Chakradhar Mohapatra proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with a colourful cultural performance by the students. The teaching and non-teaching staff extended full cooperation to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the event.
