FIRST ICSI INTERNATIONAL ADR CENTRE OPENS AT NOIDA
Noida(29/02/2024): With the intent to facilitate Arbitration, Mediation and Conciliation at National and International level, the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) established its first ICSI International ADR Centre at Noida (U.P.). Justice P.Sathasivam, former Chief Justice of India and former Governor of Kerala inaugurated the ICSI International ADR Centre at ICSI House, C-36, Institutional Area, Sector - 62, Noida (U.P.) today.
The ICSI International ADR Centre at Noida is a state-of-the-art facility with world-class infrastructure, advance Video Conferencing facility, top notch administrative facilities, etc. The Objective of the ICSI International ADR Centre is to promote Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods including Mediation, Conciliation and Arbitration to assist and educate all sections of Society, Individuals, Corporates, Firms, Institutions and Establishments (Local or International). Justice P.Sathasivam, former Chief Justice of India and former Governor of Kerela appreciated the Institute for this initiative and said, “Arbitration and mediation are prominent across the globe as methods of dispute resolution. ADR methods are beneficial to the parties due to low cost, time saving, autonomy of parties, comfortable environment and being non-adversarial in nature”.
He further added that Incorporated as a Section 8 Company, the ICSI International ADR Centre has been set up to promote Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods of Mediation, Conciliation and Arbitration. Besides, assisting and educating the masses, the Centre will provide all kinds of ADR services including the training required for it”. Addressing the gathering on the ocassion CS B Narasimhan, President, The ICSI said, "Company Secretaries are at the realm of laws governing India Inc.and ensuring good corporate governance. Going a step further in promoting amicable dispute resolutions especially in commercial contracts, the ICSI decided to launch an ‘ADR Centre’ to facilitate Arbitration, Mediation and Conciliation at National and International level. The International ADR center is ICSI’s attempt to support the nation’s judicial ecosystem and strengthen the overall governance ecosystem in the process. The ICSI Plans to open more such centres across the country".
The inauguration of the ICSI International ADR centre witnessed the presence of Bhamathi Balasubramaniam, (IAS Retd.) and CS (Dr.) Pundla Bhaskara Mohan, former Judicial Member, National Company Law Tribunal, Presently Advocate of High Court for the State of Telangana and Arbitrator and Conciliator, and other members of the Governing Council of ICSI ADR Centre .
