Bhubaneswar’s New City Project gains momentum: Surbana Jurong Chief Executive meets H&UD Principal Secretary

Avinas Misra, Chief Executive, Surbana Jurong South Asia, along with Abhisek Malhotra, Regional Director, Surbana Jurong, called on Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, Odisha at Kharavela Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

The meeting focused on urban infrastructure and managed services, with special emphasis on the Bhubaneswar New City Project.

The Government of Odisha has identified around 338.436 hectares for the proposed new city.

The concept would be presented to MoHUA under Urban Challenge Fund. The project envisions a model city that is inclusive, vibrant, and resilient, designed to optimize land value and achieve international branding. BDA would consider JLL to prepare master plan and recommend the best-suited product mix for the development. 

Regarding this an MOU was signed between BDA and JLL during the visit of President, Singapore, to Bhubaneswar. 

Usha Padhee stated, “The Bhubaneswar New City Project is a landmark step for Odisha to shape a world-class urban centre, reflecting inclusivity, sustainability, and resilience for future generations.”
