Manas Ranjan Mohapatra

It seems to me,                      Someone knocks at my door every night now!
And what does he whisper?                                   Neither it's a blow of air
nor a piece of music,
even not connected with the season of love.

Neither known nor  unknown
Who is he knocking at my door in disgrace,
turning the river into an ocean?

In my perplexity, I open my doors,
By striping myself, I run into the dark
To  identify myself once in the mirror of that stranger.

This poem is translated  by Sudipta Mishra into English from the original Odia poem " Abiskar"
