Odisha imposes 7-month fishing ban
Bhubaneswar (01/11/2024): A 7-month fishing ban has been imposed in Odisha, effective from today, till May 31 next year. The ban has been enforced to protect the endangered Olive Ridley sea turtles. The restrictions apply to fishing within 20 km of the coast, fishing in Rushikulya, Dhamara, and Devi river mouths, and the Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary. The ban aims to ensure the safe nesting of Olive Ridley turtles.
