Police constable arrested for attempting to rape minor tribal girl

Sambalpur (By Abhishek Mohanty): A constable from the Bareipali police station in Sambalpur district has been arrested on charges of attempting to rape minor tribal girl.

The accused identified as Biranchi Munda allegedly deceived the girl on the pretext of taking her to visit the  Sital Sasthi festival and tried to rape her.

After the victim narrated her ordeal to her parents, a complaint was lodged in this regard.
A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
