Preparedness for Cyclone ‘Dana’: Odisha STSC Development department letter to prioritize safety of Boarders

Bhubaneswar(23/10/2024): The District Welfare Officers (DWOs) of 14 districts of Odisha have been instructed to ensure safety of boarders of all residential schools and hostels including the hostels attached to the schools of School & Mass Education department in view of possible cyclone situation.

According to a letter written by the STSC Development department, all schools shall remain closed from October 23 to 25, but the hostels will remain fully functional. ADWOs, WEOs, Engineers of ITDAs, Headmasters, Assistant Hostel Superintendents, Teachers, Matrons, Cook-cum-Attendants, ANMs should remain present in the HQs and ensure safety and security of the boarder students staying in the SSD hostels attached to the SSD and S&ME department schools including Anwesha Hostels. The headmasters or Assistant Hostel Superintendents should be directed to immediately ensure sufficient stock of food grains, vegetables, and other food stuff in all hostels. Adequate provision for supply and storage of drinking water should be ensured. Along with this, to ensure other related arrangements, the DWOs have been informed by letter from the SSD department.
