Starting as a zoology professor at Khurda PN College, he ascended to the position of principal at Ramaamani College of Kantabaada. His influence extended beyond academics; when Khordha Praanaath College was built under the guidance of Praanaath Pattaniak, Professor Rout played a pivotal role.

Dedicated to social work and hailed as an adventurous fighter, Professor Rout drew inspiration from the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Lenin. A champion for teachers' rights, he fearlessly fought against the government, securing UGC scale pay for Odisha's college lecturers.

His legacy included the founding of Braahmani College in Kendrapada district, presidency of the century-old Khurda Club, leadership of the B.Ed. Revered as the Mahatma Gandhi of Kendrapada district, he served as the district president of the drug-free organization, advocating for a society free from the clutches of substance abuse.
