Security tightened in Kandhamal district in view of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati's 16th death anniversary

Phulbani(24/08/2024): Security arrangements have been tightened in Kandhamal district on Friday in view of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati's 16th death anniversary. The Hindu monk and his four disciples were killed on August 23, 2008, by Maoists on the occasion of Janmasthtami which was followed by a riot. In view of Janmashtami celebrations and observance of the death anniversary at Jalespata and Chakapada ashrams, tight security arrangements have been put in place. Two Ministers of the BJP government - Rabi Narayan Naik and Suryavanshi Suraj- are scheduled to attend the death anniversary programme of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati at Jalespeta ashram. Armed police force has been deployed in the entire district to prevent any untoward incident.
