TWO-DAY ANNUAL REGIONAL CONFERENCE OF ICSI-EIRC CONCLUDES
Bhubaneswar(13/08/2023): The two-day 32nd Annual Regional Conference of the ICSI-EIRC on the theme “CS: The New Age Corporate Chanakya” concluded in Puri on Sunday. Chief Guest of the valedictory session Jagannath Saraka, Minister, Law, ST & SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare, Odisha said, "Taking a cue from the theme of the Conference is a depiction of Company Secretaries being a Jewel amongst the professionals.
As I get to understand, the profession of Company Secretaries is probably as old as companies themselves.
Though it has greatly evolved over the time, however the nucleus has always been ‘good governance’.
A company functions in the milieu of a maze of regulatory obligations.
The job of a Company Secretary - whether as a practitioner or an employee - is to ensure that the company functions within the ambit of good corporate governance." Special guest Aswini Kumar Patra, Minister, Tourism, Odisha in his address said that ICSI Institute is one of the first professional bodies in India entrusted with the task of promoting Good Governance and it has always been at forefront in taking number of initiatives in this direction.
The ICSI is the foremost Institution to bring in deliberations on corporate governance to the Corporate Boards.
CS plays a vital role in the decision-making policy of the Corporate Sector.
He is a strategic planner and a good adviser to the Company, he added.
