Bhubaneswar(01/02/2024): In a rapid and collaborative effort, a 14-year-old girl, a victim of human trafficking, was successfully rescued from a village in Keonjhar district, Odisha.
Atmashakti Trust spearheaded the operation with Jan Sahas, a survivor-centric non-profit organization, and Mandakinee Kar, Chairperson of the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR). The incident unfolded on December 9, 2023, when the minor, from Jharkhand, was trafficked from Tamilnadu.
Coordinated efforts were initiated by the father, who filed a Zero FIR with Jan Sahas NGO in Tamilnadu and informed the Jharkhand Child Welfare Committee.
“We thank the Chairperson, OSCPCR, Inspector General of Police S.Shyni, Keonjhar Police, and CWC members for their swift and dedicated efforts.
It was essential to have prompt action and inter-agency cooperation in ensuring the safety of victims,” said Henarani Nayak, who spearheaded the coordination with NGOs, activists, and government bodies .
