CM announces compensation for families of police personnel killed in Jharsuguda accident

Families of five police personnel who died in the Jharsuguda accident will receive ex gratia payment.
An amount of Rs 5 lakh each will be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The Chief Minister expressed sorrow over the loss of the five on-duty police personnel.
At least five police personnel were killed and three others sustained serious injuries after a tipper truck collided head-on with a Bolero vehicle in front of the district headquarters police station in Jharsuguda on Sunday morning.
According to reports, eight police personnel were returning in a Bolero after completing official work when a chip-laden tipper truck coming from the opposite direction crashed into their vehicle.
The deceased have been identified as Sub-Inspector Niranjan Kujur, APR Kashiram Bhoi, Lingaraj Dhurua, APR Debadatta Sa, and Home Guard Bhaktabandhu Mirdha.
The three injured personnel were admitted to the district headquarters hospital, where their condition is stated to be critical.
Police have seized the tipper involved in the accident and detained its driver. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the collision.
