GANJAM POLL VIOLENCE: SECTION 144 IMPOSED AROUND KHALLIKOTE POLICE STATION

Khallikote (16/05/2024): On the direction of the Election Commission of India, the Ganjam district administration imposed Section 144 of CrPC around Khallikote police station after locals gheraoed the police station and damaged a vehicle. According to information, a BJP worker was killed while seven others sustained critical injuries in a clash between the BJD and saffron party at Sri Krushna Saranapur village under Khallikote police limits in the district on Wednesday night over putting up posters for the ongoing election campaigning. The deceased has been identified as Dillip Pahan. Irked over the incident, a group of BJP workers today gheraoed the police station, demanding arrest of the accused.

The irate locals pelted stones and water bottles at a police vehicle while the cops were moving eight arrested accused persons to the court.

The window glass of the vehicle got damaged in stone pelting.
