26th Subarna Chandipur Beach Festival to Begin on January 8: Decisions Taken at Preparatory Meeting
Balasore, January 4 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The 26th Subarna Chandipur Beach Festival will commence from January 8. The festival will be inaugurated by the State Minister for Law, Works and Excise, Prithviraj Harichandan.
Committee members informed this at a press conference held in Balasore on Sunday, stating that extensive preparations for the four-day festival have already begun.
The festival is expected to witness the participation of several eminent personalities, including political leaders, ministers, police and administrative officials. Those who have consented to attend as distinguished guests include State Minister for Law, Works and Excise Prithviraj Harichandan; Minister for Higher Education, Odia Language, Literature and Culture Suryabanshi Suraj; School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond; Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi; Bhadrak MP Abhimanyu Sethi; Deputy Chief Whip of the Assembly and Remuna MLA Gobinda Chandra Das; Simulia MLA Padmalochan Panda; Soro MLA Madhab Chandra Dhada; Nilagiri MLA Santosh Khatua; Sadar MLA Manas Kumar Dutta; Basta MLA Subasini Jena; Jaleswar MLA Ashwini Kumar Patra; Bhograi MLA Gautam Buddha Das; Zilla Parishad member Narayan Chandra Pradhan; and Balasore Municipal Chairperson Sabita Sahu, among others.
With support from the Central and State government departments of art, literature, culture and tourism, cultural troupes will present programmes every evening. Special attractions will include Nepali folk dances performed by artistes from Nepal, the traditional Gotipua dance from Puri district, and a renowned orchestra from Kolkata. Eminent artistes from Balasore, across Odisha, and from outside the state are also scheduled to perform.
Arrangements are being made for various food stalls, along with stalls run by Mission Shakti and self-help groups, cottage industries, defence department exhibitions, and seafood stalls offering fish, prawns and crabs.
On this occasion, the committee’s souvenir 'Subarnikata' will also be released.
Earlier, following the advice of festival patrons and Sadar MLA Manas Kumar Dutta and District Collector Suryabanshi Mayur Vikas, a committee meeting was held in which several proposals were approved. Additional District Magistrate Sudhakar Nayak has been appointed as the nodal officer for the festival.
Committee President and former MLA Jiban Pradip Dash, Vice President Biplab Kumar Mohanty, and General Secretary Harekrushna Das informed that preparations for the four-day festival are underway. During the meeting, Dr. Laxmi Narayan Mohanty was appointed Vice President and Prashanta Mohanty was entrusted with the responsibility of the Secretary.
