A Heartfelt Reflection on the 35th Annual Day Celebration of Sambad's Rourkela Edition

Attending the 35th Annual Day celebration of Sambad's Rourkela edition was an experience that left an indelible mark on my heart. Sambad, established on October 4, 1984, has grown to become one of Odisha's most widely read newspapers, with a circulation of approximately 4.5 lakhs .
The event was graced by the presence of Smt. Tanaya Patnaik, Executive Director at Eastern Media Limited, Radio Chocolate, and Kanak TV. An alumnus of the prestigious Warwick Business School in London, Smt. Patnaik's eloquence in flawless Odia and her traditional saree attire exemplified the essence of an 'Odiani Jhia' .
The program commenced with the enchanting voice of Anil Mallick, the renowned anchor of Radio Chocolate, who set the tone for the evening. The event featured esteemed personalities such as Sri Sharada Prasad Nayak, MLA of Rourkela, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Rameswar Rao, Director of NIT Rourkela, as the Chief Speaker.
A highlight of the evening was the felicitation of Padma Shri awardee Haldhar Nag, affectionately known as 'Lok Kabi Ratna'. Born in Ghens, Bargarh district, Haldhar Nag's journey from humble beginnings to becoming a celebrated Sambalpuri poet is truly inspiring. His works, including "Dhodo Bargachh" and "Achhian", have been instrumental in bringing Sambalpuri literature to the forefront .
The event also honored Sri Durga Madhab Panda, a distinguished lyricist and music composer, and Sri Sanjay Nanda, a young business tycoon from Sundargarh, for his commendable social work. Additionally, the team behind the Koraputia video album "Chhi, Chhi Chhi re Nani", which gained nationwide popularity, was recognized for their contribution.
A special segment was dedicated to felicitating successful Class 10 students, acknowledging their academic achievements and encouraging them to strive for excellence.
Witnessing the convergence of talent, dedication, and cultural pride at this event was truly uplifting. It reinforced my belief that true admiration lies not in wealth or power, but in the pursuit of knowledge, art, and social contribution. My heartfelt congratulations to all the honorees, and sincere gratitude to Eastern Media Limited for organizing such a memorable celebration.
