Alumni Association Celebrates 50th Foundation Day and Van Mahotsav at Saun High School

In a first-of-its-kind initiative in the school’s history, the Puratan Bidyarthi Parishad (Alumni Association), a leading social organization of Ganguti Gram Panchayat in Sadar Block, Balasore, organized a grand celebration of the 50th Foundation Day of Anchalik High School, Saun along with a Van Mahotsav within the school premises.
The event was held under the chairmanship of Jaladhara Samal, President of the Parishad. The Chief Guest was Abhaya Kumar Dalai, Divisional Forest Officer, Balasore. Among other distinguished guests were the school’s founder Harendra Nath Das, Headmaster Dronacharya Pattayat, Advisor Banalata Das, and noted social worker Satyanarayan Acharya. The secretary Sudhakar Sethy delivered the introductory address, while Asst. secretary Sabitri Rani Das introduced the guests. Youth representative Prashant Samal proposed the vote of thanks. Jatin Mohanty, Manmath Kumar Barik, Janmejaya Jena, and Nava Kumar Nayak also addressed the gathering on behalf of the association.
On this occasion, Keshab Kumar Acharya, President of the Bar Association, was felicitated with the Pratibha Shali Byaktitva Samman – 2025 (Distinguished Personality Award – 2025). Environmentalist Satyabrata Sankhu was conferred the Bruksha Bandhu Samman (Friend of Trees Award), while the top three scorers of the school in the Matriculation Examination—Adyasha Behera, Dharashree Panda, and Nirmala Nayak—were honored with the Student Excellence Award – 2025.
In a speech competition held to mark the occasion, Abhipsa Samal secured first place, followed by Ritisha Parida and Anjali Acharya. In the painting competition, Shatabdi Mohapatra won first prize, Jyotishree Nayak second, and Mrutyunjaya Mohapatra third. A special consolation award was given to Pankajini Barik for her artistic contribution.
Senior advisors Pitambar Mohapatra and Hemendra Bugudei played key roles in leading the Vedic rituals and tree plantation activities, during which over 200 saplings were distributed. A ceremonial plantation was performed by one of the school's founding members, Harendra Nath Das.
The program witnessed active participation and cooperation from many, including Shubhranshu Raut, Anil Ranjan Jena, Nihar Samal, Rashmiranjan Jena, Lucky Samal, Jayashree Raut, Jayanta Acharya, and Dambaru Dhar Patra, making the event a memorable milestone in the school’s golden journey.
