Balasore Will Become Odisha’s No. 1 District, Announces Deputy Chief Whip at ‘Ekatra Balasore’ Convention, Demand for NIPER establishment gains momentum, Government to discuss and fulfill pending demands

Balasore, Oct 26 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty):
“We are No. 1 in the RTO list, and we will make Balasore the No. 1 district in the state,” declared Government Chief Whip Govind Chandra Das while attending the ‘Ekatra Balasore’ convention held at Buddha Mandir, Bhubaneswar, on Saturday. He added that every proposal for the development of Balasore would be strongly pursued with the state government to ensure its implementation. The government, he said, plans to develop a tourism circuit by linking Balasore’s three rivers — Budhabalanga, Subarnarekha, and Triveni.

Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Das assured that the Triveni Project would connect the major rivers of the district and promote integrated development.

Jaleswar MLA Ashwini Patra, attending as a Guest of Honour, shared his suggestions on developing waterway connectivity. Smt. Shobhana Mohanty, Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission, highlighted Balasore’s rich cultural heritage.

Other distinguished guests included Dr. Adita Patra, Odissi dancer Sujata Mohapatra, Monika Das (great-granddaughter of Fakir Mohan Senapati), former administrator Niranjan Sahu, and columnist Sudarshan Das, who all addressed the audience.

The event, presided over by Niranjan Panda, President of Ekatra Balasore, featured Kesu Das, Vice President, introducing the guests, while Ramjeeban Gochhayat delivered the welcome address. Saroj Kumar Das, General Secretary, presented the annual report and strongly urged the establishment of a National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Balasore.

Biroj Raut, Vice President, gave a PowerPoint presentation on the organization’s vision, and the proceedings were coordinated by Swati Biswal and Snigdha Arya, the joint secretaries. The event was anchored by Sachindra Majhi, Bibhupada Das, and Sudhakar Sethi, while Jayanta Das, Vice President, delivered the vote of thanks.

Over a hundred Balasore-origin professionals residing in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, and Khordha — including retired officers, educationists, litterateurs, researchers, administrators, and youth organizers — participated in the convention.

The organizers announced that a grand Balasore Mahotsav will be held in Bhubaneswar this December to showcase the district’s glorious identity and achievements.
