CSIR-IMMT HOSTS SPRINGER NATURE INDIA RESEARCH TOUR
Bhubaneswar(17/10/2023): On the backdrop of the Springer Nature India Research Tour in partnership with the Indian Ministry of Education, CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), hosted the Springer Nature team to share insights on: Breaking Barriers for Women in STEM and engaged in an invigorating panel discussion on the topic “Her Research, Our Future: Women Leading Discovery”. The special address was delivered by Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education in virtual mode. The keynote address was given by PK Banerjee, Joint Secretary, Minister of Education and special keynote was delivered by Prof S K Jain, Vice Chancellor, Banaras Hindu University (BHU). The scope and overview of Nature publications was presented by Ed Gerstner, Director of Research Environment Alliances, Springer Nature Dr Aishwarya V, Principal Scientist, CSIR-IMMT, Dr Trupti Das, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR IMMT, Dr Nilotpala Pradhan, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR IMMT, Dr Namrata Mishra, KIIT and Dr N K Dhal, Chief Scientist CSIR-IMMT spoke on Breaking Barriers for Women in STEM. The event was attended by Scientists, faculties, research scholars from research institutes and universities from Bhubaneswar. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ramanuj Narayan, Director CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar said: India Research Tour is an initiative uniting Indian research communities and fostering collaboration and publishing meaningful and impactful research. A special focus on young researchers and women researchers are the key highlights of India Research Tour. Springer Nature’s “Her Research Our Future” is a wonderful initiative to empower women researchers in India” The India Research Tour’s primary objective is to fortify the Indian research landscape by nurturing the talents of young researchers and creating an inclusive environment for knowledge dissemination. One of the tour’s fundamental principles is to democratize research, fostering conversations that revolve around ensuring access for all and promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Venkatesh Sarvasiddhi, Managing Director, Springer Nature India shared his perspective, stating: “The National Research Tour embodies a holistic approach to foster research, innovation, and knowledge-sharing throughout India. Our joint objective with the Ministry of Education is to strengthen India’s research landscape, empowering young researchers, promoting access for all, and advancing Sustainable Development Goals. We are particularly committed to empowering women researchers and facilitating access for girl students, thus promoting the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion within Indian academia.” The Ministry of Education and Springer Nature India are resolute in steering India toward a sustainable and innovative future. This collaborative endeavour, grounded in research, innovation, and the realization of the SDGs, symbolizes India's unwavering commitment to meaningful progress. The research summit was locally coordinated by Dr Yatendra S Chaudhary, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-IMMT under the mentorship of Dr Ramanuj Narayan, Director at CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar .
