DEVOTEES IN LARGE NUMBERS THRONG KAKATPUR MAA MANGALA TEMPLE FOR JHAMU JATRA
Konark(23/04/2024): Thousands of devotees thronged the Maa Mangala Temple in Kakatpur of Puri district on Tuesday to witness the Jhamu Jatra, one of the most popular festivals of Odisha. Devotees were seen thronging the temple from 5 am to see the Rajarajeswari besha of the deity.
Those who perform the eight-day puja collect sacred water from a river and offer it to the deity for blessings. As per previous practice, devotees gather around to witness people walking on burning charcoal barefooted to mark the last Tuesday of the month of Chaitra.
