‘Ekatra Baleswar’ to Fight for Baleswar’s Interests in the Capital: Baleswariya Confluence to be Held Soon

Baleswar, 4.5 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): A new organization named ‘Ekatra Baleswar’, formed by residents of Baleswar currently living in the capital city Bhubaneswar, is set to advocate for the establishment of a government engineering college and a National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Baleswar district. Given the absence of a government engineering college in northern Odisha and Baleswar’s location between Mayurbhanj and Bhadrak districts, the demand for such an institution in Baleswar has gained urgency.
While institutions like IISER in Berhampur, NISER in Jatni, NIT in Rourkela, IIM in Sambalpur, and a Central University in Koraput have already been established, Baleswar still lacks any major central educational institution. Hence, ‘Ekatra Baleswar’ has put forth a demand for the establishment of NIPER and the long-awaited second Agricultural University in Baleswar. The organization has announced that it will soon launch a movement in the capital to raise these demands for the district’s development.
To strengthen their cause, ‘Ekatra Baleswar’ will soon organize a grand gathering of Baleswariyas. Saroj Kumar Dash, the convenor of the organization and a Rotarian, emphasized that the struggle for the upliftment of their homeland will continue through united efforts.
On Saturday, a meeting of ‘Ekatra Baleswar’ was held at a hotel in Bhubaneswar under the chairmanship of Shri Dash. In the meeting, it was resolved to form various committees for the upcoming event—Organizing Committee, Reception Committee, Finance Committee, and Cultural Committee.
Among the prominent participants were Professor Adwait Patra, columnist Sudarshan Das, veteran actor Premanjan Parida, artist Kesu Das, Panchanan Samal, educationist Dr. Binodini Patra, Niranjan Chandra Panda, Gaurishankar Panda, Bishwanath Mohanty, senior journalist Ramjeevan Gochhayat, sculptor Jayanta Kumar Das, Biroj Kumar Raut, Snigdha Behera, Swati Bishwal, Meghadipti Mahapatra, Prabhanjan Mohanty, Sachi Majhi, and Tushar Satapathy.
