International Day of Older Persons celebrated at Utkal University

The International Day of Older Persons was celebrated at the new Convention Hall of Utkal University, organised by the Regional Resource and Training Centre (RRTC).
The valedictory session of the event was inaugurated by Surama Padhi, Odisha Legislative Assembly Speaker, and Prithviraj Harichandan, Law Minister of Odisha.
Among the dignitaries present were Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University Prof. Jageswar Dandapat, former Chief Secretary Sahadev Sahu, Secretary of NRCWDC Sukanta Kumar Parida, and journalist Nageswar Pattnaik.
A workshop on the theme “Older Persons Driving Local and Global Action: Our Aspiration, Our Well-being, Our Rights” was also organised during the programme.
Earlier in the morning, NSS and NCC students conducted a walkathon to raise awareness about the rights and welfare of senior citizens.
Additionally, doctors from KIMS Hospital organised a health check-up camp for the elderly participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said that the state government is committed to ensuring the rights and welfare of senior citizens.
