Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary reopens with new attractions

Balasore(By Abhishek Mohanty): The Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Balasore district reopened for visitors on Saturday. This markis the beginning of a new tourist season for nature lovers.

This year, the sanctuary has added two exciting attractions — the Gadasimulia and Mechkund waterfalls — along with deer relocated from Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar.

The deer have been released into the forest, giving tourists a chance to see them freely roaming in their natural habitat.

Kuldiha has only one gate that serves both entry and exit, limiting tourist movement inside the sanctuary.

Visitors must use their own vehicles for travel within the reserve. Owing to staff shortage, large-scale arrangements have not been possible this year.

The sanctuary was officially reopened at 8 a.m. on Saturday by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) during a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Authorities hope that the inclusion of the waterfalls and deer viewing experience will draw more tourists to the sanctuary in the days to come.
