PRESIDENT DROUPADI MURMU ADDRESSES NATION ON EVE OF 77TH INDEPENDENCE DAY
New Delhi(14/08/2023): President Droupadi Murmu addressed the nation on the eve of 77th Independence Day. The President touched upon topics including the challenges faced by the country on economic and climate fronts.
She said, "Climate change needs urgent attention.
It is necessary to make efforts at the local, national and global level in the interest of the environment.
Extreme weather events affect all.
But their impact is far more severe on the poor and marginalized.
Cities and hilly terrains especially need to be made more resilient." Stating that India registered impressive GDP despite challenges, President Murmu said the country has converted challenges into opportunities and has also registered impressive GDP growth. She further highlighted that the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) keeps scaling new heights and setting higher benchmarks of excellence.
This year, ISRO launched Chandrayaan-3, and it's lander named 'Vikram' and it's rover named 'Pragyan' are slated to land on the moon in the next few days.
It will be a proud moment for all of us and I look forward to it.
But the mission to the moon is only a stepping stone for our future space programmes and we have to go far ahead.
