Bhubaneswar(06/11/2024): The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Bhubaneswar, a prestigious institute of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, has taken a significant step forward in expanding the scope of fashion education in Odisha and across India.
In a press meet held at the NIFT Bhubaneswar campus on Wednesday, Campus Director, Rajesh Kumar Jha addressed the media to highlight key initiatives aimed at raising awareness about career opportunities in the fashion industry as well as the upcoming NIFT Admission 2025 process.
This is well known that the textiles and apparel industry in India is the 2nd largest employer in the country providing direct employment to 45 Mn people and 100 Mn people in allied industries.
India has also become one of the leading manufacturer in this field across the world. A major focus of the press meet was NIFT Bhubaneswar’s innovative Outreach Programme 2025, which aims to engage students from 30 districts across Odisha and provide them with insights into the world of Fashion and Design.
The outreach initiative is a response to the growing need for industry-ready professionals in the fashion sector, and it aims to break barriers and introduce design studies to a wider audience, particularly in underserved areas. NIFT is India’s premier institution for fashion education, offering an array of Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programs in various Design deciplines, like Fashion Design,Textile design, Fashion communication, Fashion Communication, Fashion and Lifestyle Accessories , In Fashion Technology areas like Apparel Production under department of Fashion Technology as well as in Fashion Management PG course. NIFT has been established in 1986, NIFT was the first institution in India to introduce design education in the fashion sector, and it continues to lead the way in shaping the future of fashion education globally having the quantum growth. With 19 campuses spread across India, NIFT has become a symbol of excellence in the field of fashion education and research. “Empowering Future Fashion Leaders: NIFT’s Outreach Programme 2025” According to Rajesh Kumar Jha, Director-NIFT Bhubaneswar’s Outreach Programme 2025 is designed to inform and inspire students by offering them exposure to various fashion-related career paths at an early age.
The programme targets government and public school students, offering interactive sessions, workshops, and campus visits.
As part of this initiative, NIFT Bhubaneswar recently conducted an activity-based event on November 5, 2024, where over 40 students from local schools participated in an immersive experience of life at NIFT.
The event featured presentations on NIFT’s offerings, followed by guided campus tours, where students explored the diverse departments, including Fashion Design, Textile Design, Fashion Management, Fashion Communication, Fashion, Lifestyle and Fashion Technology.
Participants also had the opportunity to engage with faculty and current students, who shared their experiences and insights into the practical aspects of a career in fashion.
The outreach programme provides an invaluable opportunity for students to explore their creativity and determine their career path in fashion.
The aim is to inspire a new generation of designers, managers, communicators, and technologists who will shape the future of the fashion industry in India and beyond.
Rajesh Kumar Jha also Informed that On November 9, 2024, NIFT Bhubaneswar will celebrate its Convocation Ceremony 2024 at the IMMT-CSIR Auditorium, Sachivalaya Marg, RRL Campus, Acharya Vihar, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, starting at 1:00 PM.
A total of 196 students will receive their degrees, including 168 undergraduate and 28 postgraduate students, who will join the growing family of NIFT alumni.
On this occasion, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, along with Tanu Kashyap (IAS), Director General of NIFT, will present the degrees to the graduating students.
Several well-known dignitaries from various sectors will also be present to bless the graduates on this special day. According to Jha, NIFT's commitment to creating industry-ready professionals is evident from its consistently high placement records.
