Master Canteen to be renamed

Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty): The iconic Master Canteen in Bhubaneswar will be renamed soon. 

Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra said, "Master Canteen is located in the heart of Bhubaneswar near the railway station. It is an important commercial and transit hub. Despite its historical relevance, the name is a vestige of colonial administration, and there is a growing demand from citizens and cultural organisations to rename such places with more locally meaningful identities. Odisha will now focus on Odia Asmita. The names of several prominent places from the British era are likely to be changed."

The Minister stated that discussions are underway regarding the renaming of key places in Odisha that still carry the names from the British era.
