NIFT BHUBANESWAR CELEBRATES 3RD JANJATIYA GAURAV DIVAS
Bhubaneswar(29/11/2023): The Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, Mahotsav 2023 is celebrated by the Government of India to remember the contribution of tribal freedom fighter as a part of the year long celebration of the 75th Indian Independence.
On this occasion under the Government of India, the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Bhubaneswar celebrated its 3rd Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, a cultural extravaganza, that immersed the campus in the vibrant traditions of India's tribal communities.
Spanning from November 21 to November 29, 2023, the event not only celebrated the diverse heritage of our nation's tribal population but also served as a platform for awareness and appreciation. The festivities commenced with an inaugural ceremony on November 21, paying tribute to the iconic personality, Birsa Munda, a visionary leader hailing from Jharkhand known for his steadfast resistance against colonial oppression.
Rajesh Kumar Jha, the Director, delivered a warm and inspiring welcome address, setting the tone for the cultural journey that followed.
The ceremony included the symbolic lighting of the lamp, a gesture resonating with the enlightenment and empowerment the event aimed to achieve. On the inaugural day a workshop, led by a distinguished guest Ghasiram Panda, focused on the empowerment and development of tribal women, showcasing NIFT Bhubaneswar's commitment to social impact through education.
As the week unfolded, the vibrant campus witnessed a poster-making competition on November 25, where students showcased their creativity, aligning with the tribal theme.
On November 29, the closing ceremony marked the culmination of the Janjatiya Gaurav Divas.
The event began with the welcome of the chief guest Dilip Tirkey, former Indian field hockey player, politician, sports administrator and the President of Hockey India, who graced the occasion with his presence.
Rajesh Kumar Jha expressed his pride in the students' enthusiasm and efforts during the welcome address, setting the stage for the day's events, followed by a tribal dance performance by the students.
The highlight of the closing ceremony was the styling and face painting competition, where students demonstrated their fashion creativity by blending modern trends with the rich tribal culture of Odisha.
Following the competition, an extravagant selfies booth display showcased the students' enthusiasm towards capturing and promoting the essence of tribal culture. The Janjatiya Gaurav Divas 2023 concluded with the distribution of prizes and felicitations to the students, recognizing their exemplary talent and dedication in various events.
Ajit Kumar Sahu, the Joint Director, in his vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to the guests, faculty members, students, and staff for their instrumental role in making the celebration of 3rd Janjatiya Gaurav Divas a resounding success.
