Bhubaneswar(16/01/2025): Odisha's Public Health Director Dr.Nilakantha Mishra on Thursday confirmed that no cases of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) have been detected in the state.
All laboratory samples tested have returned negative results, alleviating concerns about the virus's presence in the state. Dr.Mishra's statement comes after reports surfaced about a potential HMPV case in the Kaipadar area of Khurda district.
However, these claims have been disproven, and the state's health department has assured citizens that there's no need to panic. It's worth noting that HMPV is a common respiratory virus that can cause mild to moderate symptoms, similar to those of a common cold or flu.
While it's not a new virus, cases have been reported in other parts of India, including Karnataka and Gujarat. The Odisha Health department has taken proactive measures to monitor the situation and prevent the spread of HMPV.
Citizens are advised to remain calm, follow basic preventive measures, and stay informed through official channels.
