Baleswar | July 17,(Krushna Kumar Mohanty) The Odia film industry is set to witness a creative breakthrough with the release of 'Indradhanu', an anthology film helmed by young director Arjun Samantray. Inspired by the success of Hindi anthologies like Bombay Talkies, Lust Stories, Ludo, and Ajeeb Daastaans, Indradhanu brings together seven short stories penned by contemporary Odia writers in a single cinematic experience.
Scheduled for release across Odisha on July 18, the film promises a fresh narrative approach amidst the typical commercial fare. With Arjun Samantray also taking charge of cinematography and editing, Indradhanu showcases his all-round creative vision.
The stories are authored by Nikhilesh Mishra, Saroj Bal, and Badal Mohanty. The film has been produced by Rajendra Mohanta and co-produced by Suryasnata Tripathy, with production support from Suravi Patnaik.
Veteran musician Omprakash Mohanty has composed two title tracks, with lyrics by Devdas Chhotray and vocals by Ratikanth Satpathy and Susmita Das. The background score has been designed by young composer Anurag Patnaik.
The ensemble cast includes prominent names such as Bikash Das, Abhisek Giri, Dipanwita Dashmohapatra, Bhaswati Basu, Ramakant Mishra, Smita Mohanty, Dhaaritri Khandual, Sudhanshri Madhusmita, Rinku Pradhan, Samarpita, Soumya Ranjan, Dishani Debanjana, Debadatta Pati, Nishikanta, Ranesh, and Sagat Mohanty.
“This is an organic and deeply rooted Odia film of a different genre, carefully curated. It explores human emotions, relationships, reflectiveness, and a wide spectrum of storytelling modes in one immersive journey,” said Director Samantray, expressing hope for a strong audience connection.
As 'Indradhanu' prepares to hit theatres, all eyes are on whether this artistic experiment will resonate with Odia cine-goers and open new paths for regional storytelling.
