Odisha CM announces creation of 2,000 new traffic police posts
Bhubaneswar(04/01/2025): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced the creation of 2,000 new traffic police posts in the state.
This move aims to strengthen road safety measures and reduce accidents.
Additionally, 500 traffic police personnel will be recruited this year. Addressing the National Road Safety Month celebration at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, the Chief Minister expressed concern over the increasing number of road accidents in Odisha, stating that 47,000 lives have been lost in the past decade.
He emphasized the need for smart traffic management and announced the installation of smart electronic devices in buses to minimise accidents.
The state government will provide financial assistance to private bus owners for installing these devices. This initiative is part of the state's efforts to improve road safety and reduce the number of accidents.
According to the Chief Minister, 15,000 lives are lost daily due to road accidents, highlighting the need for effective measures to address this issue.
