Odisha CM hikes ex-gratia for deaths due to wild animal attacks

Bhubaneswar (Abhishek Mohanty): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday announced a hike in the ex-gratia for deaths due to wild animal attacks in the state.

The amount has been increased from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
The state government has decided to provide concrete houses to people under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana or equivalent amount of monetary compensation in case of damage to their houses in wild animal attacks. An amount of Rs 3000 will be given as compensation for any damage to a person's kitchen, granary and pen due to animal attacks.

Similarly, the government will provide a compensation of Rs 5000 per metre if there is damage to a person's concrete boundary wall due to attacks by animals. However, the total compensation in this regard for a household will not exceed Rs 25,000.
