Odisha government to introduce double decker electric buses in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar(10/12/2024): The Odisha government has decided to introduce double decker electric buses in Bhubaneswar soon. Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has invited tenders from private organisations in this regard. In the first phase, five double decker electric buses will be launched in Puri, Khordha and Cuttack districts. A contract for ten years will be signed with a private organisation for the supply, operation, maintenance of the buses and employment of workers for it. If required, the contract period may be extended for a period of two more years. Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr Krishna Chandra Mahapatra informed that the electric buses will reduce pollution and help in environmental protection.

He said that the number of buses will be increased in phased manner CRUT aims to use green energy for its operations to promote clean and green shared mobility on a Gross Cost Contract basis through appointment of fleet operator.
