Odisha government to seek support from ODRAF in case of severe forest fires
Bhubaneswar(17/03/2025): Odisha Forest department has achieved remarkable success in controlling forest fires, with a 99.99% success rate.
To further strengthen their efforts, the department is taking several initiatives.
This was informed by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Suresh Pant on Monday. The state has created 15,723 km of new fire lines this year. Odisha is the first state to use the Odisha Forest Management System (OFMS) Forest Fire Application.
The state has also set up five AI-powered cameras in Similipal to monitor forest fires in real-time. In cases of severe forest fires, the department will seek assistance from the Home Department and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF).
