Balasore, 27/02 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): On the fifth day of Bhasha Paksha and the Cottage Book Fair, the Odia Bhasha Bikash Andolan organized a special literary evening dedicated to poet Srideb.
Story writer Anjali Panda presided over the programme. In this grand literary gathering, young poet Gyanendra Panda and researcher Rajasmitā Sahu joined as speakers. They described poet Srideb as a poet of mother, soil, and village. They observed that he has the rare ability to portray with precision the sufferings and struggles of farmers who strive to fill empty stomachs.
In his address, poet Srideb spoke about the movement, nature, and present condition of contemporary literature and shared experiences from his own poetic journey.
Writers and poets including Gangadhar Biswal, Ritesh Das, Pritilekha Das, Prafulla Kumar Das, Kabita Jena, and Dr. Sarangadhar Tripathy recited various poems of Srideb.
The president of OBBA, Dr. Choudhury Satyabrata Nanda, explained the objectives of the festival. A poem written by Dr. Laxmikanta Tripathy based on poet Srideb was rendered in song by Kalyani Nanda. Joint Secretary Jumnanath Patra invited the guests to the dias, while another Joint Secretary, Shantilata Panda, delivered the concluding remarks. Many writers and intellectuals of Balasore were present on the occasion.
