International Women's Day celebrated by SNEH

Bhubaneswar(08/03/2025): International Women's Day is celebrated in the world over, every year on the eight day of March.
It celebrates womanhood and pays tribute to the indomitable spirit of women across the globe.
To honor womanhood, Society for Nature, Education and Health (SNEH) has celebrated the International Women’s Day on Saturday, 8th March, 2025 in its Conflict Resolution and Training Centre situated in Salia Sahi slum.
This year’s theme was “Accelerate Action”.
As many as 100 women participants, adolescents from different habitations of Salia Sahi slum participated in this event.
Bijayini Singh; DSP, Odisha State Commission for Women, Naresh Kumar Jena; Eminent High Court Advocate, Dr Jharana Swain; Principal Counsellor, Family Court, Bhubaneswar, Swati Sucharita Sahoo and Surach Behera ; SI, Maitri Vihar Police Station and Subash Panda; Advisor to SNEH, graced the occasion.
After the inauguration, Two Peace Committee Members; Jharana Rana and Sunita Sahoo shared about their journey as Peace Committee Leaders of their habitations.
Speaking on the occasion, Naresh Kumar Jena emphasised on the importance of upholding rights of women in today’s society.
SI, Maitri Vihar Police Station Swati Sucharita Sahoo and Surach Behera stressed upon the role of women as peacekeepers in a community as large as Salia Sahi.
Dr Jharana Swain spoke about the importance of peace and how women can establish peace both in their families and in their habitations.
DSP, Odisha State Commission for Women; Bijayini Singh spoke about gender equality as the need of the hour in connection with this year’s theme, “Accelerate Action”.
Advisor, SNEH; Subash Panda highlighted the importance of women empowerment especially for community welfare. On this occasion, Dr Jharana Swain, Swati Sucharita Sahoo and Bijayini Singh were felicitated for their committed contributions in their respective fields for their contributions to upholding peace and justice in the society.
