Over 50 students taken Ill after consuming stale meal in Koraput

Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): More than 50 students of a government school in Koraput district were taken ill on Friday after allegedly consuming stale food served at their school hostel.

The incident was reported from Banshaput Upper Primary School under the Narayanpatna block. Soon after having the meal, several students complained of vomiting, nausea, and stomach pain.

On being informed, a medical team from the Narayanpatna Health Department rushed to the spot and provided emergency treatment to the affected students. 

Some of them were later shifted to nearby health facilities as a precaution.

Sources said the rice served to the students was stale. 

There were also allegations that the food was contaminated by a dead lizard.

Authorities have taken note of the incident and an inquiry has been initiated. Food samples have been collected for examination, officials said.
