PM Modi launches Rs 60,000 crore development projects in Odisha’s Jharsuguda; key initiatives include master plans to upgrade MKCG Medical College & VIMSAR into super-speciality hospitals

Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple development projects worth Rs 60,000 crore in Odisha’s Jharsuguda.

Key initiatives include master plans to upgrade MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur and VIMSAR in Sambalpur into super-speciality hospitals, as well as the expansion of eight ITIs.

The Prime Minister also flagged off the Amrit Bharat Express between Berhampur and Udhna (Surat), aiming to provide affordable and comfortable interstate connectivity, boost tourism, create employment opportunities, and link major economic hubs.

Additionally, Modi announced the launch of BSNL’s indigenous 4G technology, marking a milestone for India’s telecom sector. Orders under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana were sanctioned for 50,000 beneficiaries, offering pucca houses and financial assistance to vulnerable rural families, including persons with disabilities and widows.

Addressing a large crowd at the Yuva Samabesh at Amlipali Ground, Modi began with “Juhar” to greet the people and sought blessings from Goddesses Ramchandi and Samalei.

Highlighting the benefits of the GST 2.0 reforms, he said taxes on tractors and agricultural equipment had been significantly slashed. Farmers can now save Rs 40,000 on tractors, Rs 15,000 on wheat-planting equipment, Rs 10,000 on power tillers and Rs 25,000 on threshers.

He added that the reforms cut household taxes on Rs 1 lakh expenditure from Rs 25,000 to just Rs 6,000.

Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singhdeo and Pravati Parida and other senior government officials were present.
