Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls to begin in Odisha from April 1
Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty):
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will commence across Odisha from April 1, Chief Electoral Officer R. Santhagopalan announced on Saturday.
Addressing the media, Santhagopalan said preparatory activities, including mapping exercises, are currently underway to ensure smooth implementation of the revision process. The initiative aims to update and streamline the electoral rolls ahead of upcoming electoral processes.
He urged citizens to verify their details in the 2002 SIR records and report any discrepancies to the concerned authorities.
“People are requested to check and confirm their details in the 2002 SIR records,” he said.
Highlighting the objective of the exercise, he stated that the primary goal is to ensure a clean, error-free electoral roll. The revision process is expected to remove duplications, correct inaccuracies, and include eligible voters who may have been left out.
In an official communication dated February 19, 2026, the Election Commission of India directed Chief Electoral Officers of several states and Union Territories, including Odisha, to expedite groundwork for the revision process.
The Election Department has appealed to voters to actively participate in the verification drive to maintain transparency and accuracy in the electoral database.
