Poet Brajanath Rath’s Death Anniversary Observed at Shantikanan

Baleswar, 3/6 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The Fakir Mohan Sahitya Parishad(FMSP) commemorated the 11th death anniversary of eminent modern Odia poet Dr. Brajanath Rath at the Shantikanan auditorium. The event was presided over by Dr. Subas Chandra Patra, President of the Parishad.

Dr. Prahlad Charan Mohanty, a noted scholar and educationist, attended as the chief guest. Dr. Shirish Chandra Jena, a prominent language and literature researcher, was the guest speaker, while poet Kalikinkar Das graced the occasion as an esteemed guest.

Paying homage to the late poet, the guests reflected on his life and literary legacy, stating that his contribution would continue to inspire future generations. They described him as a unique, compassionate humanist poet whose memory would remain etched in the collective consciousness of Odia literature.

In his presidential address, Dr. Patra remarked on the high poetic quality, rhythmic charm, and humanistic appeal of Rath’s verses. Parishad Secretary Dr. Ratnakar Singh introduced the guests and shed light on Rath’s significant contributions to Odia literature.

The event began with recitations of Rath’s poems by students and faculty from various schools, colleges, and Fakir Mohan University. Several original and translated poems of the poet were performed with great reverence. The Parishad felicitated the participants with certificates of appreciation.

The poet’s family members—his son Byomanath Rath, daughter-in-law Anita Rath, younger daughter Ojaswini Mishra, and son-in-law Dr. Mrutyunjaya Mishra—were present on the occasion, along with many poets, writers, intellectuals, and students. The poet’s elder daughter, poet Manswini Devi, offered the vote of thanks at the end.
