President Droupadi Murmu begins six-day Odisha tour
Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty): President Droupadi Murmu arrived on a six-day visit to Odisha on Monday.
After the President reached the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar, she was welcomed by Governor K. Haribabu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Majhi.
From the airport, President Murmu went straight to Lok Bhavan for a night stay.
All schools in Jajpur town will remain closed on February 3 in view of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit, the District Education Officer (DEO) said in a notification.
The President is scheduled to visit the Biraja Temple in Jajpur, where she will offer prayers and perform Pindadana rituals for her ancestors. She is set to arrive in Bhubaneswar on the evening of February 2.
After her visit to Jajpur on February 3, President Murmu will attend the convocation ceremony of Fakir Mohan University in Balasore later the same day.
On February 4, the President will travel to Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district, where she will unveil the statue of noted tribal leader Bhanjbir Sunaram Soren and interact with students at the Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Mahuldiha. She will also inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several development projects, including a Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, infrastructure projects at the OUAT campus, an Archery Centre, city beautification and drainage works, CSR initiatives, and the MSCB University Information Technology Campus.
On February 6, President Murmu will interact with women and youth from tribal communities at Simlipal Biosphere Reserve in Mayurbhanj district.
Later in the day, she will attend the Black Swan Summit, India in Bhubaneswar.
Concluding her visit on February 7, the President will travel to Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh to inaugurate the ‘Bastar Pandum 2026’ festival.
