Sahid Nagar Durga Puja Samiti’s torana to showcase youth-led concept
Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty): The Sahid Nagar Durga Puja Samiti is all set to mark its 48th year of celebrations with grandeur and enhanced facilities for devotees.
At a press conference on Sunday, Samiti President Hemanta Kumar Parija introduced the office-bearers and welcomed the media. He highlighted the extensive arrangements being made to ensure smooth and safe darshan of Goddess Durga.
Samiti Secretary Sachi Nandan Nayak detailed the measures planned for the festival. Speaking about the provision of rare Puja materials for the Goddess, he said, "There will be separate queues for men and women, wheelchair access for differently abled and elderly devotees and a large LED screen outside the mandap for live streaming of rituals."
To maintain order and security, more than 100 volunteers (men and women) will assist visitors, while over 30 private security personnel—including armed guards—will provide round-the-clock protection. The entire mandap and surrounding area will be monitored through CCTV cameras.
Advisor Manoranjan Das revealed that the decorative gate (torana) is crafted entirely from eco-friendly materials, standing 85 feet high and 130 feet long. Skilled artisans from Kolkata have been engaged to execute the design.
Working President Saroj Kumar Patra informed that this imposing torana is unmatched anywhere else, translating the innovative concepts of the Samiti’s youth members into reality.
Executive Member and Bhubaneswar Bhasani Samiti Secretary Harish Prasad Rath announced that Sahid Nagar Durga Puja Samiti will participate in the Bhubaneswar Bhasani Utsav in the 11th slot, with the idol immersion featuring traditional instruments and vibrant illumination.
During the press meet, this year’s model of the Puja mandap was unveiled, with Secretary Sachi Nandan Nayak inviting the public and media to suggest a name for the model.
Finally, through the media, the Samiti extended an open invitation to the people of Odisha to visit the Puja celebrations and urged all to adhere to government guidelines while celebrating the festival.
